TikTok monitors users!
TikTok monitors users'
activities. Vienna-based researcher Felix Krause has claimed so. Presenting the
data in his research, he said that the TikTok app monitors what users write in
the search bar to search for information. TikTok can monitor what the user is
doing on that portal when going to an external site through the app.
According to Felix
Krause, when the user clicks on a link in the TikTok app, the app adds new code
to that website. This code can collect the user's entire activity data and send
it to TikTok. TikTok is also able to capture confidential information such
as credit card numbers or passwords. Acknowledging the fact of adding code,
TikTok claims that they put that code for tasks like debugging.
Experts
say that if you click on a video link in TikTok, it opens in TikTok's own
in-app browser instead of opening it in a conventional browser. TikTok gets the
opportunity to put that special code. They say that TikTok does this on
purpose. Hence it is not fair in any way. Notably, Krause is the founder of the
company called 'Fastlane' in-app verification. The company was acquired by
Google a few years ago.
