Sony is buying a new game company
Sony has announced the purchase of Berlin and Helsinki-based mobile game maker 'Savage Game Studio'. Apart from console gaming, the Japanese electronics giant is taking this step as part of building its own position in the gaming sector. Sony did not mention any information about the financial transaction in the announcement of the purchase of this new company last Monday. In May this year, Sony's head of gaming, Jim Ryan, announced plans to expand its own gaming experience by releasing new games on mobile and PC alongside the PlayStation 5 console. Savage Game Studio, founded two years ago, is developing a live-action game for mobile phones. It will be part of PlayStation Studios' mobile division, Sony said in a statement.
Sony has taken this step in order to make consumers spend more in the gaming sector and expand its own game services to other platforms. In addition, Reuters also cited the 'disengagement' from larger hardware to support technological changes. "PlayStation Studios must continue to expand and diversify our service and deliver quality new games to more customers," said Hermann Hulst, Head of PelgStation Studios.
